St. Michael's school to hold open house
St. Michael's Country Day School will hold a "Campus and Camp" open house - a combination Admission and Summer Camp show-and-tell on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet other parents, talk with teachers in their classrooms, and tour the facilities, including the school's new middle-school building. Parents and children interested in computer science and drama, or both, will also be able to visit a Saturday morning robotics workshop and watch students in the school's drama program building the sets for the winter production of "The Little Princess."
Parents curious about summer camp options will be able to get information about the two programs, Summer at St. Michael's, for ages three to nine, with a mix of art, science, swimming and recreational activities; and Theatre at St. Michael's, for nine to eighteen, which offers age-appropriate introductions to everything from Shakespeare to Broadway to moviemaking. Additions to this summer's list of programs include Chinese and Chinese Culture, rocket building, robotics, and the fine-tuning of study skills.
Founded in 1938, St. Michael's is an independent, coeducational school for children from preschool through grade 8. It is the mission of the school "to educate the whole child: mind, body, spirit, and character," and to prepare its students as completely as possible for both the academic and social demands of secondary school. With a current enrollment of 232, class sizes are small, with a student-teacher ratio of 7 to 1. For more information, call 849-5970, ext. 302.
