Thomas J. Vieira
Thomas J. Vieira, 78, of North Providence died Feb. 13, 2007 at Berkshire Place Nursing Home. He was the husband of Dorothy R. (Montella) Vieira.
Born in Jamestown, he was a son of the late Antone and Rufina (Rose) Vieira. He had lived in North Providence for 49 years.
Thomas was a parts department manager at BIF, where he worked for 29 years. He then worked for ALCO Engineering and Thielsch Engineering, retiring in 1994.
A U.S. Navy Veteran of Korea, Thomas was a member of the USS Cabot Association. He was a volunteer for the Lymansville Crime Prevention Storefront and also a member of the Dillon Council Knights of Columbus.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Thomas M. Vieira and his wife, Stephanie, of North Providence and Robert J. Vieira of Conway, N.H.; two grandchildren, Matthew and Mitchell Vieira; two sisters, Helen Pineau of Newport and Ann Busse of Middletown; and a brother, Peter Vieira of Connecticut. He was brother of the late Mary Donahue and Frank Vieira.
Visitation and funeral will be held Saturday from7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 a.m. in St. Thomas Church, Fruit Hill Avenue, in Providence. Burial will follow in R.I. Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
