12 cars burglarized
On Sunday, Feb. 18, late in the evening, 12 cars were burglarized in the downtown area, mostly on Howland and Clinton avenues.
Items stolen included cash, bridge tokens, a wallet with money and a green card, as well as CDs and other personal items, police said. All of the cars were unlocked when they were entered.
The police are urging all residents to lock their vehicles and report any suspicious behavior.
Suspended license arrest
Thomas J. Sheahan, 42, of 8 Clinton Ave. was arrested for driving with a suspended license after a routine traffic stop for a broken taillight.
Sheahan is set to appear in Newport District Court March 2, police said.
