Jamestown girls invited to participate in Ophelia Fitness program

Child and Family Services and the YMCA announce an innovative program collaboration called "Ophelia Fitness."

This collaborative effort will offer an opportunity for girls and young women ages 11 to 18 years to explore fitness.

The Ophelia Classes are designed to integrate healthy minds with healthy bodies by offering girls a chance to explore a variety of fitness formats including, tai chi, step aerobics, dance aerobics, pilates, yoga and boxing, all of which will be led by highly skilled YMCA instructors.

"Ophelia Fitness" is an expansion of the popular and successful Child and Family Services "Ophelia Sessions" program, which for over four years has been providing girls with a safe and inviting environment to explore the social, psychological and cultural issues which have a lifelong impact on their development.

The first "Ophelia Fitness" class is Tuesday, March 27, at 3 p.m. These classes are free of charge to all Newport County girls and young women, ages 11 to 18.

The "Ophelia Fitness" Program will be offered every Tuesday from 3 to 3:45 p.m. at the YMCA at 792 Valley Rd., Middletown.
