Hospital starts heart failure program
The Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center of Newport Hospital has scheduled a free outpatient congestive heart failure (CHF) program to help patients manage this chronic disease and improve their well-being.
Classes will be held in two 90- minute sessions each week for six weeks, and all sessions will include both an exercise and an education component. Classes will be taught by a cardiac nurse, a dietitian, an exercise physiologist and pharmacist, and the program includes preand post-testing.
This program aims to teach patients about their CHF, its signs and symptoms, and how to manage it.
The classes begin on Tuesday, April 3, at 10:30 a.m. in the Newport Hospital library. For more information and to register, call the cardiac rehabilitation program at 845-1179.
