New Latin dance session begins

The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department will be starting new sessions of its three Thursday evening adult dance/exercise classes on April 26 at the Community Center.

Latin Workout will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. No partner is needed for this class. Learn basic rhythms of the merengue, chacha, rumba and samba. Participant should bring comfortable clothes and shoes with a smooth sole to swivel and turn.

Beginners Latin dance with a partner will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. It's romantic and fun. This class uses dancing the merengue and cha-cha with a partner to get prepared for the more advanced salsa class.

Intermediate Ballroom & Latin dance is held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. This class is for those who feel comfortable moving up to next level from the last semester. Waltz and cha-cha are on tap for this semester.

All three classes are taught by Kana Kubota. Kana has taught at Dance New York, New York Athletic Club, Greenwich House Music School, and many other institutions. For more information, call 423-7260. Registration forms are available at the Community Center or can be downloaded from www. jamestownri.net/rec/rec.html.
