Thanks for a spectacular event
As co-chairmen of the Scholarship Fund-Raiser for the Portuguese Holy Ghost Society, Manuel Neronha and I wish to extend a very warm thank you to all who helped make this event a spectacular success. The Jamestown Community Band did an outstanding job in providing those present with the most beautifully played swing and patriotic music ever. I think everyone there would have to agree that this was one of its best performances. It will be a hard act to follow, but am sure under the guidance of Katherine O'Neill it will continue to bring beautiful music to Jamestown.
In keeping with the USO/Patriotic theme the Flag was presented by Jamestown's own veterans from the VFW and American Legion. We thank these brave men and women for their most meaningful presentation. They surely make us proud to be Americans.
A very appreciative thanks goes to our committee members who helped put this event together; Alcina Blair, Polly Lathan, Marlene Murphy, Joan Dupee and Joe Mederios.
Of course, without the assistance of the PAC employees this may not have been as successful as it was. Thanks to those men and women.
We especially want to thank all those who donated cookies so we could keep those USO cookie jars always full for all to enjoy.
A deserving thanks goes to Bob Saunders, president of the Jamestown Community Band. He was our liaison person between the band and our committee. His assistance made our job so much easier and very pleasant.
Lastly, we want to sincerely thank all of you who came to this concert to support our Scholarship Fund. With your support we will be able to offer scholarships to two deserving Jamestown college bound students. This makes it all worth the effort.
I'd also like to thank the Jamestown Press for getting this thank you note out to all those deserving individuals.
