Camps for musicians this summer at URI
The University of Rhode Island Fine Arts Center will host a preparatory music program, under the direction of Jane Murray, in July.
The String Week camp will run from July 9 to 13 and is open to students from grade 3 to grade 9 who are intermediate level players of instruments.
Instruction will be provided for violin, viola, cello and bass. The programs, which meet daily from 8 a.m. noon, are led by Megan Winters
Well known jazz pianist Joe Parillo will direct the second annual Summer Intensive Jazz and Percussion Week, also July 9 to 13, assisted by the jazz faculty from the URI Music Department. Open to high school aged jazz players, the camp meets from 1 to 7 p.m. daily. Master classes, combos, improvisation workshops and performances are just a few of the offerings during this busy week.
