      Building permits Jay Gowell received a permit on May 15 to replace a deck and add 5-feet to the west side at 28 Whale Rock Rd., work estimated to cost $10,000. John F. Sheehan received a permit on May 15 to replace a staircase at 98 Clarke St., work estimated to cost $3,000.

Fire and EMS Runs
      Fire runs 4:53 p.m., May 13, Car 2 and Engine 2 responded to an oil tank leak call on East Shore Road. 6 p.m., May 14, Car 3 was sent to a service call on Narragansett Avenue. 7:10 p.m. May 15, Engine 2 was dispatched to a mutual aid call on Post Road in North Kingstown.

Police Log
      Drunk Driving Reported Katharine Shea, 23, of 40 Oakdale Rd., North Kingstown, was stopped May 20 in a parking lot on Narragansett Avenue for erratic driving, and was charged with first offense drunk driving and refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer test, according to police. She was held overnight at the police station.

      Betty R. Kinder was recently appointed to the Emergency Medical Services Compensation Committee by the Town Council. Her name was incorrect in last week's edition of the Press.
