Cyclers race for local charities

Recognized as one of the premier cycling events on the East Coast, the sixth annual Cox Charities Cycling Classic will be held Sunday, June 24, in downtown Providence. The United States Cycling Federation (USCF) sanctioned event will attract over 500 of the top cyclists in the country and thousands of spectators. The main event begins at noon.

Other races of note include: 2 p.m., Masters 35+; 3:15 p.m., Masters 45+; 4:30 p.m., Women's Open; and 6 p.m., Men's Open.

In addition to the exciting cycling races, there will be entertainment, food, and activities for the whole family. Radio station 93.3 Coast FM will bring their Kidz N Family workshops. Stop by the World Wrestling Entertainment booth and meet the ECW Superstar, The Extreme Educator, Matt Stryker. Join in the fun activities presented by HBO, Showtime and many more.

Proceeds from Cox Communications' signature event will benefit Cox Charities New England, which provides grants to non-profit organizations that support children and education. Annually, Cox Charities provide approximately $125,000 to local non-profit organizations.
