Free 'small ships' event tours
In celebration of the Tall Ships maritime event visiting Newport harbor this week, Sail Newport and Webster Bank will host free sailing tours of Newport harbor on Saturday, June 30.
The "Webster Bank Small Ships Festival at Sail Newport," will be open to the public from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. Guests will be able to board boats at Sail Newport's sailing center in Fort Adams State Park for the sailing excursions.
Sail Newport's entire fleet of sailboats will be driven by experienced sailors. Guests will enjoy the experience of sailing, tours of Newport Harbor and the unique opportunity to see the majestic Tall Ships from the water vantage point.
In addition to Sail Newport's boats, the Shake-A-Leg adaptive sailing program will provide a custom fitted boat and experienced sailors for disabled guests who wish to participate in the Webster Bank Small Ships Sailing Festival. Shake-A-Leg is also headquartered in Fort Adams State Park and is dedicated to providing sailing and independence programs for individuals who experience spinal cord injury and other disabilities.
All ages are invited to participate in the Webster Bank Small Ship Festival at Sail Newport and no experience is necessary. Life jackets will be provided to all guests. Tours will be given on a first-come, first- served basis. Groups of ten or more are asked to make reservations by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Webster Bank Small Ships Festival at Sail Newport will be held at Fort Adams State Park, 60 Fort Adams Dr., Newport, RI 02840. Parking is free in Fort Adams. Guests are also encouraged to take advantage of the Newport harbor launch and ferry services available from several points around Newport Harbor to Fort Adams.
