Navy celebrates America's Fourth
Tomorrow night Dewey Field will be transformed into the venue of the summer when Naval Station Newport and the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Department present the "Celebrate America" concert and fireworks extravaganza, featuring the Navy Band Northeast.
Rhode Island Sound, the band's contemporary music and classic rock ensemble, will open the show at 6 p.m. At approximately 7 p.m. the concert band will take the stage to perform patriotic marches and light concert pieces. The program will include a salute to veterans of all services.
A spectacular 25-minute fireous works display beginning about 9 p.m. The general public will be allowed entry through Gate One onto Naval Station Newport, beginning at 4 p.m. Gate One is the main entrance near the Officers' Club.
DJ music, food and beverage concessions, and inflatable slides and games for kids at Dewey Field will begin at 5 p.m. The Naval War College Museum will remain open with extended hours that evening in support of the event. The concert rain date is Saturday, June 30.
The concert and fireworks are sponsored by Budweiser /Anheuser Busch, Home Depot and United Services Automobile Association (USAA).
