Talented people needed for annual show
The Jamestown Community Chorus will hold its 18th Annual Talent Show on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jamestown Community Center. The production is titled "350 Years: Then and Now." A raffle and refreshment sale will round out the evening.
Open auditions will be held on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 13 and 14, at 7 p.m. at the Community Center. A piano accompanist will be available. Performers of all ages from Jamestown and surrounding communities are invited to show off their talents. In the past the show has featured spectacular singers, dancers, instrumentalists, jugglers, magicians, storytellers, and more. So everyone should be polishing up their performance skills and planning to attend the auditions.
Proceeds from the talent show and raffle benefit the future programs of the chorus.
Open to all singers, the Jamestown Community Chorus draws members from Jamestown and several surrounding towns. In addition to its spring and holiday concerts every year, the chorus donates recordings of choral music to the Jamestown Philomenian Library; sponsors a music scholarship for a Jamestown student; and participates in the Rhode Island Festival Chorus, whose mission is "strengthening community through song."
Buy tickets early and often, for a chance to win one of three Chamber Bucks Gift Certificates, in denominations of $100, $75, and $50, redeemable by numerous merchants throughout Jamestown. Raffle tickets at $1 each, or six for $5 go on sale Aug. 4 and will be available from Chorus members; at the door of the Talent Show, and at the following Raffle Stations: McQuade's Marketplace on Aug. 4, 5, 11 and 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and at East Ferry on Aug. 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Winners will be announced at the Talent Show.
