Theater by the Sea musical to open Aug. 10
Bill Hanney, new owner and producer of the historic Theatre By The Sea in Matunuck, is pleased to announce the opening of the theatre's box office for the 2007 sneak preview summer event of Stephen Sondheim's nine-time Tony Award-winning musical comedy "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum."
In keeping with Mr. Hanney's recent pledge to past Theatre By The Sea subscribers, the box will be open to past season ticket holders only from Monday, July 16, to Thursday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to give previous subscribers the first opportunity to purchase tickets.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 9 a.m. on Friday ,July 20, and will be available at the box office Mondays to Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and online 24-hours-a-day at www.theatrebythesea. com. call 782-TKTS (8587). The box office will also be open one hour prior to every performance.
"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," will be presented from Aug. 10 to 26, with special preview performances on Aug. 8 and 9. Performances are scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings at 8 p.m., Wednesdays at 2 p.m., Saturdays at 5 and 9 p.m., and Sunday evenings at 5 p.m., with special performance times on Sunday, Aug. 12 at 3 and 7 p.m. Tickets for preview performances are $35, all other performances are $39 to $49. Discount rates will be offered for groups of 20 or more. $15 Student rush tickets will be available on a limited basis one hour prior to curtain on the day of the performance with student ID.
Hanney along with Producing Artistic Director Amiee Turner and Managing Producer Joel Kipper, invite theatergoers to be a part of Rhode Island history at a special opening night celebration on Friday, Aug. 10. All tickets are $75 and include a champagne reception prior to the curtain and exclusive admission to the opening night celebration with the cast following the show.
