Teens going to movie night

The Jamestown Teen Center, Youth Pride Inc. (YPI), and the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center (MLKCC) Teen Center will come together on Friday, July 13, to host a free youth event, "B-Fast and Movies 4 Dinner," at the MLKCC Teen Center in Newport.

Come down for the waffle and sundae bar, starting at 6 p.m., and the feature film will begin at 8:30 p.m. The night will also pay tribute to Rogers High School graduating seniors with a video that will screen throughout the evening.

The Jamestown Teen Center offers a variety of activities and programs for Jamestown teens. It is currently in the process of building its own space at the Jamestown Recreation Center in downtown Jamestown.

Youth Pride Inc. is Rhode Island's only statewide non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the social, emotional and educational needs of youth and young adults impacted by sexual orientation and gender identity. YPI's satellite center in Newport, located at St. Paul 's Church, offers a weekly support group and monthly event.

The MLKCC Teen Center offers a variety of programs and activities for Newport teens. One of those programs is the Newport County Youth Council, which is currently planning the second annual Youth Summit in August 2007. The Youth Council meets weekly on Tuesday afternoons.
