Barbara C. Walton, 82
Barbara C. Walton, 82, died July 6, 2007, in Marion, Indiana.
Born on June 21, 1925, in Jamestown, she was the daughter of the late Arthur S. and Nellie (Hoyle) Clarke. She was the wife of the late R. Lee Walton, M.D. who she married in 1950. She graduated in 1943 from Newport High School, and Rhode Island State Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She was a registered nurse working at Rhode Island State Hospital from 1946 to 1950. She then worked in the office of her husband, R. Lee Walton, M.D., from 1975 to 1992. Barbara volunteered at the Marion Community Clinic and Planned Parenthood. She was a member of Temple Congregational Church where she was active in the choir and with the Temple Chimes. She sang with the Sweet Adelines and led the Scholars in the Easter Pageant.
She is survived by sons, Richmond Lee Walton Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Carmel, Ind.; Jim Walton of New York City; Bob Walton, and wife Laurie, of New York City; daughters, Joan Walton of Mountain View, Cal.; Nancy Pierce and husband Steve, of Marion, Ind., and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Services were held yesterday in Indiana.
