Thayer Eliason Roberts, 86

Thayer Eliason Roberts, 86, of Highland Drive, died Sunday, July 1, 2007. She as the wife of the late Edward Welsh Roberts.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa. on November 4, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Hiram B. and Helen (Marshall) Eliason.

She was a past president of the Junior League of Providence, Inc., the Jamestown Garden Club and the Jamestown Historical Society. She was a member of the Society of Colonial Dames in Rhode Island Providence Plantations, the Newport Historical Society, the Conanicut Island Art Association, the Jamestown Humane Society, the Jamestown Yacht Club, the Clam Bake Club of Newport, the Dunes Club, the Point Judith Country Club, the Hillsboro Club, the Perennial Planters Garden Club, the South County Garden Club and she had served on the finance committee of the Rhode Island Federation of Garden Clubs.

During World War II, she was a volunteer Red Cross nurse's aid at Rhode Island Hospital and later volunteered for many years in the recovery room at South County Hospital. She served on the board of Family Service, Inc., the Nursing Committee of the Providence District Nursing Association and as a board member of the John Hope Settlement House.

She leaves a son, Marston Whitin Keeler, Jr. and a daughter Elizabeth Thayer Keeler.

She was formerly married to the late Marston Whitin Keeler and the late George Sampson Squibb, Jr.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by Avery-Storti Funeral Home, Wakefield.
