Atwater Donnelly in concert Sunday
Summer music in Jamestown continues at East Ferry Memorial Square this Sunday, July 22, at 6:30 p.m. Featured will be Atwater Donnelly, a Rhode Islandbased folk music duo who met as volunteers at Stone Soup Coffee House in Providence in 1987 and have been singing together ever since. They have traveled widely here and abroad, studying and performing an impressive variety of folk and ethnic styles.
Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly present a joyous concert of traditional Celtic ballads, dance tunes, a cappella pieces, sea chanties and American songs, as well as original works. They blend unusual harmonies, and accompany themselves on guitar, mountain dulcimer, tin whistle, harmonica, banjo, spoons, bones, Australian monkey pods, rainstick and other surprises. This concert will appeal to all ages, and audience participation is encouraged.
Admission is free, so bring the whole family for an enjoyable evening of song. The event is sponsored by the Jamestown Press and Integrated Management Solutions Inc. In case of rain, the concert will be held at the Jamestown Recreation Center.
