Bowl making sessions scheduled
      Three sessions for making bowls to be used in this fall's Empty Bowls fund-raising event, have been scheduled for August. The sessions will be on Wednesdays, Aug. 8, 15, and 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Melrose Avenue School art room.

Songs and stories at the library tonight
      Tonight, Thursday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m., the Jamestown library invites children ages 4 years and over to come with their families to a performance by musician and music teacher Greg Cooney. Cooney uses songs and stories that will get the audience up and involved with the performance. Music is a mystery. What makes us tap our toes and sing along?

Newcomer to island music performs Sunday
      Summer music in Jamestown continues Sunday, Aug. 5, at 6:30 p.m., with Garry Foisy, who will make his Jamestown debut. Co-sponsored by Meagher Design and Island Realty, Garry Foisy is a singer-songwriter acoustic guitarist, with a strong personal style and a keen passion for vocals, harmony and meaningful lyrics.
