Town gives notice on upcoming paving projects

The Jamestown Public Works Department will be doing preparatory work on Clinton Avenue, Spirketing Street, and Seaside Drive south of the Jamestown Bridge in anticipation of repaving. Road reclamation is scheduled for Aug. 9 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Paving will begin Aug. 10, and be complete Aug. 14. The road surface will be ground by machine and mixed into the gravel sub-base. The roads will be re-graded and paved the following day (weather permitting). In addition, the town will be paving Stern Street, North Main Road (in the area of Laurel Lane) and Keel Avenue.

On the affected streets, parking will be prohibited during the hours of 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Aug. 9 to 14.

The public works department cannot give the time period of road reclamation and paving on each road, however during the period of road preparation and paving operations, the road may be closed for a short period of time to allow the asphalt to cure. Detours will be set up and road closures will be kept to a minimum. The public works department requests that deliveries requiring large trucks be postponed until a later date. The department apologizes for any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks everyone for their patience. For answers to any questions, call Steve Goslee or Michael Gray at the Jamestown Town Offices 423-7220.
