2007-08-09 / About Town

The Jamestown farming community has put together two special events as part of the 350th Anniversary celebration. Historic New England's Watson Farm will be hosting a guided tour on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 4 p.m. Led by farm managers Don and Heather Minto, this tour will focus on the agricultural history of Conanicut Island. There is a $3.50 fee for the tour. No pre-registration is required.

There will be two trolley tours of Jamestown's working farms on Friday, Aug. 17, at 2 and 4 p.m. Organized by the Jamestown Farm Viability Committee, this is a rare opportunity to visit Jamestown's working farms and meet the farmers. The trolley will leave Melrose school promptly at 2 and 4 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Tickets are $3.50 and are on sale at Baker's Pharmacy, Jamestown Hardware and Watson Farm. For more information, contact Heather Minto at 423-0005.
