Basketball camp a huge success

The recent Jamestown Recreation Department youth summer basketball camp was a huge success and I would like to take a few minutes to thank those who helped. First of all, thanks to the participants. Some 34 strong showed up on day one and endured the fast pace of basketball drills, sprints, foot-fire drills and more. Their desire to work hard and improve their basketball skills was impressive. Thanks also to our camp coaches; Christian Tiexiera, Kyra Reppe, Ashley Smith, Brian Rubino, Tom Stacom, Michael McDermott and Steve Santos. This group of coaches worked extremely hard to ensure the camp participants completed each skill station. We were fortunate to have Coach Eric Bush as our camp leader. Coach Bush conveyed his basketball knowledge and fundamentals to the camp participants and the camp was a success largely because of his hard work, organizational skills and enthusiasm for teaching our youth. Thanks again to all the coaches and I look forward to this popular camp next year. If any parents would like to forward suggestions, please feel free to call me at the recreation center at 423-7260 or email wpiva@jamestownri.net.
