End of summer fun at soccer camp
      Challenger British Soccer has a few openings at their camp starting on Monday, Aug. 20, at Tuckertown Park in South Kingstown. The camp is available from 9 a.m. to noon for half-day camp and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for full-day camp.

Concession stand meeting Monday
      A special meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the recreation center to discuss further plans and solicit help regarding the Glow Ball tournament on Sept. 15 to raise funds for concession stand repairs at the soccer and baseball fields. Members of baseball and soccer committees/ coaches as well as other interested persons are invited to attend.

Swing band to play benefit
      The Fort Adams Trust and First Night Newport announce the Sunset Fun-Raiser scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 26, from 6 to 11 p.m. at Belle Mer, on Goat Island. This event is a benefit for both organizations and the honorary chairmen are Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Newport Mayor Stephen Waluk.
