      Building permits Paul and Suzanne Andrews received a permit on Aug. 14 to erect a post and beam barn with attached recreation room and bath at 55 Blueberry Lane, work estimated to cost $120,000. Alan DuBois received a permit on Aug. 14 to install seven windows and a 16- foot slider at 53 Conanicus Ave., Unit 5B, work estimated to cost $4,200.

Police Log
      Drunk driving charged •Patrick Byrne, 19, of 20 Fairview St., was charged Aug. 16 with first offense drunk driving after police witnessed Byrne run a stop sign at the corner of Narragansett Avenue and North Main Road. Byrne then ran off the roadway, police said.

Fire and EMS Runs
      Fire runs 6:26 p.m., Aug. 13, Marine 1, Engine 3 were dispatched to Seaside Drive for an overturned boat call. 6:29 p.m., Aug. 13, Car 3 and Engine 3 were sent to North Main Road for a power line down call. 11:10 p.m., Aug. 13, Ladder 1, Car 2, Engines 1, 2 and 3 went to East Shore Road for a false alarm.

For the record
      I would like to clarify any confusion there may have been in my Viewpoint last week, specifically the first - and very crucial - reason I offered supporting upper Taylor Point. The landfill remediation must be finished before any facility can be built on Lot 47.
