Lot 47 makes a lot more sense

The "not in my backyard" contingent is certainly in full force, and like most of us I suspect, I am appalled at the ceaseless politics involved in the highway barn location issue. Full disclosure: It would be somewhat in my backyard if built at Taylor Point, but I think it would be a shame for all the other well-stated reasons: aesthetic, financial and sheer practicality. It seems obvious that one location (which the town already owns) would be logical and are people really intending to disregard the opinion of the town workers who know better than anyone what would work best for them and (by extension) us?

Downtown homeowners are stuck with congestion and the fire horn, the south end of the island has endless traffic, West Ferry has the school traffic and here in this corner we have the sewage plant and occasionally considerable bridge noise, so, as for the lobbyists from the north end, no sympathy from me. I want the town to have an efficient and reasonable location which does not destroy Potter's Cove, cost us more money or allow the RI Bridge and Turnpike Authority to profit further from us or have any say in land usage. I will be voting against the Potter Cove site and hoping for a chance in November to settle this: on Lot 47.
