One month to write a novel: are you up for it?

Got a novel in you? Could you write one in a month? Two local authors are anxious to show you how. They'll introduce you to a website and a community of thousands worldwide who do it every year.

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is an Internet contest that supports wannabe novelists in pumping out a 50,000-word first draft in one month's time. Any adult who would like to participate this November is invited to join Patti Cassidy and Paul McGoran for a meeting on Thursday, October 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Redwood Library on Bellevue Avenue in Newport. Both authors have written novels during past NaNoWriMo events.

At the meeting, Patti and Paul will read from their work. They'll also share their expertise about writing novels in November with any closet novelists interested in joining this year's challenge. Give your inner Jane Austen or Mickey Spillane a workout this November! You'll be glad you gave it a try.

Patti Cassidy lives in Jamestown. Paul McGoran lives in Newport. He is available for comment at 847-0264 or paul42@cox.net
