Amazon show at library tonight
      The Friends of the Jamestown Library present "Amazon Adventure" with Chris Powell tonight, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. Join Chris Powell for an exciting trip on the motor yacht Tucano into the heart of Amazonas. From the capitol city, Manaus, travel more than two hundred miles up the Rio Negro into the Rio Branco.

      A poetry writing workshop, called "Poetry through Reflection," will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at Historic New England's Watson Farm.

Garden club to learn about bees
      The Quononoquott Garden Club is sponsoring a program about the unique society of honeybees, which have seen a big decline in population in the past few years. The program will take place on Monday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. at the Jamestown library and is free and open to the public.

      Celebrate a bumper crop of pumpkins at Sunday and Monday's Pumpkin Days. From pumpkin picking to horsedrawn hay rides, the Jamestown Community Farm will be hopping with harvest celebration on Sunday, Oct. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Aircraft carriers in library talk
      The Friends of the Jamestown Library will sponsor a look at the fascinating beginnings and detailed history of aircraft carriers on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. Maj. Mike Coletta, USMC, a native Rhode Islander and current student at the Naval War College in Newport, will give the presentation using first-hand knowledge of these airports on water. Maj.

See 'Walkin' Jim Saturday night
      Walkin' Jim Stoltz will perform a concert of traditional folk music on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the community center. This free performance, which begins at 7 p.m., is sponsored by the Conanicut Island Land Trust. An environmentalist, singer and songwriter, Walkin' Jim's music is based on his treks across the country and back.
