Poetry workshop this weekend

A poetry writing workshop, called "Poetry through Reflection," will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at Historic New England's Watson Farm.

In this workshop, led by local Rhode Island poets Ira Schaeffer and Patte Weathers-Parry, participants will create poetry that connects close observations of the Watson Farm environs with the personal feelings and memories they evoke. Model poems, writing exercises and group discussion will provide structure and support for the creative process of poetry making. This workshop is open to writers of all levels.

Cost for the workshop is $10 for Historic New England members or $20 for non-members. To register and request more information, contact Heather Minto at 423-0005 or go online to www. historicnewengland.org.

The Watson Farm is a 275-acre working farm owned by Historic New England located at 455 North Main Rd. in Jamestown. Historic New England is the oldest, largest, and most comprehensive regional preservation organization in the country. It offers a unique opportunity to experience the lives and stories of New Englanders through their homes and possessions. For more information visit online at www.HistoricNewEngland.org
