      The Friends of the Jamestown Library are sponsoring a Flu Shot Clinic from Blue Cross at the Jamestown library on Monday, Oct. 29, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Getting the flu can make people feel rotten. It can cause body aches, sore throat, fever, cough, congestion, and extreme fatigue. The best defense against the flu is a flu shot.

      The Friends of the Jamestown Library are sponsoring a Volunteer Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the library. Over 30 local groups have been invited to present their organization to the members of the Jamestown community. Each organization will have a table with a representative to discuss agendas and goals. Informational materials will also be available.

      Child & Family Services of Newport has an immediate need for Friendly Visitors who visit the homebound elderly on a regular basis. They have elders who are confined to their home and are waiting for visitors in Tiverton, Portsmouth, Middletown and Newport. These elders have very few social contacts and would welcome a visit from someone who cares about them.
