      The Friends of the Jamestown Library and the Jamestown Historical Society will host a talk by Sue Maden, author of "The Jamestown Bridge, 1940-2007: Concept to Demolition," tonight, Thursday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Jamestown library on the new publication.

A real treat for chowder fans
      The Jamestown Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Business Expo & Taste of Jamestown "Chowda" tonight, Nov. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the community center. Donna Olney Kohler, the chamber's executive director, said that the new venue at the community center is "more visible and downtown," so they hope to draw more people this year.

Come to the island's business expo
      Businesses exhibiting include Dutra Designs, The Purple Door Bead Shop, Clancy Designs, and Cathryn Jamieson Salon. Every 15 minutes there will be drawings for $20 in Chamber Checks, which can be used for food and merchandise from dozens of island businesses. You must be present to win the checks.
