Another fall recreation season for the Jamestown Soccer Association came to an end on Oct. 27. Under the looming threat of very stormy skies, a hardy group of players, coaches and parents all came out to finish the season in style. More ... With the expectation of a cold and long winter ahead of us, the staff at the Town Hall will start collecting mittens, scarves, hats and gloves for the annual holiday Mitten Basket. The community of Jamestown is welcome to start making donations to the mitten basket on Tuesday, Nov.13. Donations can be made Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. More ... The Jamestown Recreation Department's annual Jack O' Lantern Jog 5K Road Race was held on Oct. 28 with over 120 participants. This year's race, our 19th annual, finished at the recreation center where the festivities continued with awards, prizes and raffles. More ... As the weather turns cooler on our beautiful island, we would like to remind our fellow Jamestowners that this is also the season that wildlife may become more unpredictable in their behavior. November is the start of the "rutting" season, when deer become much more active and the danger of deer strikes dramatically increases. More ... |
