Town hall records
      Building permits Bill and Susan Pratt received a permit on Oct. 30 to construct a dormer and second floor as per plans at 101 Longfellow Rd., work estimated to cost $70,000. Michael and Debra Harrington received a permit on Oct. 31 construct a new residence with attached garage at 20 Walnut St., work estimated to cost $1,320,000.

      Monday, Nov. 12 Town offices closed for Veterans Day holiday. Tuesday, Nov. 13 7 p.m., Ft. Wetherill, the Conservation Commission meets. 7 p.m., Town Hall, the Town Council meets. Wednesday, Nov. 14 7 p.m., Town Hall, the Harbor Management Commission meets.

Police Log
      Breaking and entering charged Two Newport juveniles were charged Oct. 30 with breaking and entering a home on Lincoln Street after neighbors witnessed them climbing in a window. The two were held at the Rhode Island Boys Training School and were taken to Newport Family Court on Oct. 31 for arraignment.

      Settipane A daughter, Mia Lynn Settipane, was born Oct. 7, 2007 to Linda and Guy Settipane of Jamestown.

Fire and EMS Runs
      Fire runs 1:57 a.m., Oct. 30, Ladder 1, Truck 1, Car 2 and Engine 3 were dispatched to Ranger Court to answer a false alarm. 2:44 p.m., Oct. 31, EMS 1, Cars 2 and 3 and Engine 3 were sent to Steamboat Street in response to an accident call.
