Help with the Mitten Basket

With the expectation of a cold and long winter ahead of us, the staff at the Town Hall will start collecting mittens, scarves, hats and gloves for the annual holiday Mitten Basket.

The community of Jamestown is welcome to start making donations to the mitten basket on Tuesday, Nov.13. Donations can be made Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and will benefit the Newport County Women's Resource Center. Donations must be brand new or hand-made and unwrapped to be placed in the basket at the Town Hall, 93 Narragansett Ave. If there are any questions regarding basket donations, please feel free to call Kimberly at 423-9801.

Last year's donations were extremely generous and it is truly wonderful to see the community's warmth and kindness for those who are less fortunate during the busy holiday season.

Please stop by the Town Hall to add to the mitten basket and continue to show the island's generous support during the hectic holiday season. Donations must be by Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 4 p.m. A big thank you to everyone for making the past years mitten baskets such a great success!

Kimberly Turcone Deputy Town Clerk, Jamestown
