Fall soccer season a big success
Another fall recreation season for the Jamestown Soccer Association came to an end on Oct. 27. Under the looming threat of very stormy skies, a hardy group of players, coaches and parents all came out to finish the season in style.
Some fine and exciting soccer skills were exhibited on all fields by each and every age group.
The younger players received a trophy and the older players were given a small soccer ball to practice their skills. A team photo and pizza were provided to all after their final game.
The 2007 Thomas Jacquard Memorial Sportsmanship Award was given to Joshua Brown and the 2007 Leigha Carlisle Memorial Sportsmanship Award was given to Rossibel Kurz, both players in the Under 15 league.
As the co-directors for the fall season, we would like to recognize the time and effort put forth by all those individuals who contributed to the program's success by volunteering to coach a team.
We would like to thank Kyle Froberg for directing the excellent soccer skills sessions each week in the Under 6 league and Rachel Burnett for serving as Under 6 league coordinator.
Thanks also go to Chris Atwood for serving as the Under 8 league coordinator, David Brown and Vaughn Nelson-Lee for supervising the Under 15 league.
We would like to thank the many volunteers who worked in the concession stand and also a special note of thanks to Susan Baccari and Judy Barry for their invaluable help during the season.
Thank you as well to Jay Sisson for once again coordinating and training the referees used throughout the season. The referees did an excellent job helping to keep the games running smoothly.
We especially want to thank Roberta Fagan for her efforts, stepping into her new role as Jamestown Soccer Association registrar and Darlene Froberg for her excellent photography of all the teams and players.
Last but not least, we thank each sponsor of the 28 teams this year for supporting our league.
From the smiles on the players' faces, we would have to say that 2007 Fall Soccer was a winning experience.
