Thanks to tree lighting volunteers
I would like to thank all of the Jamestowners who pitched in for the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony this year. The air may have been cold, but the community spirit was very warm indeed. There are many folks involved, but thanks especially to the guys from Conanicut Marine who helped move and erect the tree: Bill Munger, Doug Chapman, Steve Froberg, and Pres Froberg. From Largess Forestry we were lucky to have Matt Largess and his son, Peter, who handled this beautiful Norway Spruce with great skill. Thanks to Mrs. Clair and Mr. Ed Furtado for donating this perfect Christmas tree, to the decorators, Victor Calabretta and Winston Knight, and to Don Ostander and Tom Lafazia from Conanicut Marine, who managed the crane in a brisk wind. For the good cheer and getting us in the spirit, we thank Karen Kaufmann and the tree lighting band and B.J. Whitehouse and the Jamestown Community Chorus. For the warm fire, we thank Jamestown Boy Scout Troop 1. Huge thanks to Ann Deffly for the hot chocolate and Carol Baldwin and Ali Brown for pitching in helping us with the goodies provided by our wonderful bakeries, the Village Hearth and Slice of Heaven. Let's not forget the good humor and strong backs of Clayton Carlisle, Tim Dwyer, Andrew Kallfelz, John Baldwin and Rob Dunn for helping with the stage. Thanks to Andrew and Nate from the recreation department for the cheerful sound and stagecraft. Last, but not at all least, thank you especially to Jamestown Women's Club and the Lions Club and the for their crucial and generous support for this event. Merry Christmas to all.
