Buy $40 Osprey-themed license plate to help the environment

Advocates from Rhode Island's environmental community are just 50 orders shy of starting production on Rhode Island's first environmental license plate.

According to legislation passed last year, 900 license plate orders are needed in order to start production on an Osprey-themed license plate to benefit the Audubon Society and Save the Bay. At a cost of $40 per set of license plates, each organization will receive $10 per set sold, with the remainder directed to production costs.

To be eligible, purchasers must currently have a valid, registered set of Rhode Island license plates. Plates can be ordered online through the Audubon Society of Rhode Island at www.asri.org or from Save the Bay at www.savebay. org. For questions or more information on the Environmental License Plate, call 949-5454.
