Group discusses "Sister Carrie"
The Afternoon Book Discussion at the Jamestown library will meet to discuss the classic novel "Sister Carrie," by Theodore Dreiser at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8. The book, published in 1900, was considered scandalous in its day.
The book club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. The group is open to the public and has discussed a variety of fiction and non-fiction titles. New participants are always welcome.
They will discuss "Isaac's Storm: A Man, a Time, and The Deadliest Hurricane in History" by Erik Larson at their Feb. 12 meeting.
For more information, call the library at 423-7280. Books may be obtained through the library by placing holds on one of the many copies available through the Ocean State Libraries catalogue. Registration is not required. Meetings are free and open to the public and new members are encouraged to join.
