Drunk driving charged

Joseph D. Pineiro, 21, of 161 Beacon Ave., was charged on Dec. 18 with first offense drunk driving, and second offense refusal to take a field sobriety test or a Breathalyzer test, police said. He was reported for taking a vehicle without permission and driving under the influence.

Pineiro was held overnight at the police station and arraignment was scheduled for Dec. 19 at Newport District Court, according to police.

Andrew Ford, 61, of 77 Watson Ave., was charged Dec. 21 with second offense drunk driving with a blood alcohol content of .15 or greater after he was stopped on Watson Avenue. Police received a call from a restaurant where Ford was refused service for being highly intoxicated. Restaurant personnel said that he drove off in his car, police said.

Ford was held overnight at the police station where he was arraigned. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Jan. 4 at Newport District Court, according to police.

Christine Sammarco, 44, of Saunderstown, was charged Dec. 22 with first offense drunk driving and refusal to take a Breathalyzer test after being stopped on Route 138 westbound for speeding, police said.

Sammarco was held at the police station where she was arraigned. A pre-trial hearing at Newport District Court is yet to be scheduled, police said.

Amey C. Pacheco, 30, of Newport was charged Dec. 23 with first offense drunk driving and refusal to take a Breathalyzer test after being stopped on Conanicus Avenue for erratic driving, police said.

Pacheco was held and arraigned at the police station where a pretrial hearing was scheduled for Jan. 4 at Newport District Court, according to police.

John C. Fink 20, of Wakefield, was charged Dec. 23 with first offense drunk driving and first offense possession of marijuana after he was stopped for failing to stop at an intersection and driving erratically, police said. Fink's brother, Devin, 19, also of Wakefield, was also charged with first offense marijuana possession.

The brothers were held overnight at the police station where they were arraigned and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Jan. 4 at Newport District Court, according to police.

Kyle A. Lemke, 19, of 805 East Shore Rd., was charged Dec. 23 with first offense drunk driving and refusal to take a Breathalyzer test after he was stopped for driving through a stop sign and erratic operation of a motor vehicle, police said.

Lemke was held at the police station where he was arraigned and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Jan. 4 at Newport District Court, according to police.
