Celebrate twelfth night with medieval feast

The Chorus of Westerly will throw a Peasants’ Feast, a traditional component of the Chorus’s annual production of “A Celebration of Twelfth Night.” Performances are on Jan. 13 and 14 at the Chorus of Westerly’s George Kent Performance Hall, 119 High St. in Westerly, at 1, 4, and 8 p.m., with the Peasants’ Feast being served at 6 p.m. both days. Peasants’ Feast tickets cost $14 and can be purchased through the box office. For more information, call 596-8663 or visit www. chorusofwesterly.org.

The Peasants’ Feast menu is rich with traditional flavors with Chef Steve Kitchen’s inspiration being medieval banquets. The meal, which promises to maintain the Chorus of Westerly’s reputation for inventive and delicious cuisine, includes slow roasted port loin with an apricot horseradish glaze, roasted root vegetables and green beans in garlic butter. A desert of oatmeal chocolate cake will bring the meal to a sweet finish. Hot wassail is the beverage of choice included with the meal. However, beer, wine and soft drinks will be available at a cash bar.

The final ingredient to the Peasants’ Feast is live music and entertainment. Served in the Performance Hall between “A Celebration of Twelfth Night” performances, the meal includes entertainment, This year’s Peasants’ Feast performers include the Boston Festival Brass, Joan Ceo on harp, fiddle music, bagpipers and a mummer’s play presented by the Westerly Morris Men and directed by Peter Leibert.
