Community chorus welcomes new singers
      Music Director B. J. Whitehouse and members of the board of the Jamestown Community Chorus invite singers to join the chorus on Monday, Jan.15, at 7 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, 99 Narragansett Ave., for the first rehearsal of "Going Home," which will be performed on May 5 and 6.

Youth volleyball starts next week
      Youth volleyball will begin Jan. 16 at the Lawn Avenue School for students in grade 5 and up. This is a good chance to have some fun and get some exercise at the same time. The games are from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings. The cost is $20 for the session, which runs until March 20.

Bereavement support available in S. County
      Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island will begin a sixweek bereavement support group for people in South County from Jan. 24 to Feb. 28. Sessions will meet Wednesday mornings from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter's by the Sea Church, 72 Central St., Narragansett.

      South County Art Association will offer a winter class series at the Helme House on Route 138 in Kingston.       U.S. Senator Jack Reed announced Jan. 5, 2007 that his wife, Julia, gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Emily Hart Reed was born in Alexandria, Va. "Mother and daughter are doing well, and we feel truly blessed," said Senator Reed. Reed owns a summer home in Jamestown.
