U.S. Senator Jack Reed announced Jan. 5, 2007 that his wife, Julia, gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Emily Hart Reed was born in Alexandria, Va.

"Mother and daughter are doing well, and we feel truly blessed," said Senator Reed.

Reed owns a summer home in Jamestown.
