Art exhibit opens

The Conanicut Island Art Association is sponsoring an art exhibit in the Jamestown library beginning this week and running through Feb. 13.

The show is made up of the work of Evelyn Thistle Rhodes and 13 of the students in her workshops this year.

Each spring and fall for more than two decades, Rhodes has conducted artists' plein air workshops in southern Rhode Island.

The work includes oil, watercolor, and pastel landscapes painted on location. Many of the scenes, like the Beavertail lighthouse, Wickford harbor, Casey Farm, and Neale Farm, will be familiar.

Other artists in the exhibit include Emily Boenning, Whit Brown, Maryanne England, Eleanor Gravdahl, Katherine Grimes, Barbara Hutchison, Judy Knight, and Mary Jane Murphy, all of Jamestown.
