Library film series continues

The second offering in the library's foreign film series will be the French film "Le Diner de Cons" on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m.

Janet Maslin of the New York Times wrote: "Francis Veber's giddy, lightweight odd-couple comedies are guilty pleasures. Enough French moviegoers know that to have made ''The Dinner Game'' the second-biggest hit in France last year, after ''Titanic.'' . . . It seems that a smug, wealthy publisher named Pierre Brochant, played by Thierry L'hermitte as the apotheosis of aging yuppiedom, regularly joins a group of his friends in a contest to see who can bring the biggest fool to dinner. ''The Dinner Game,'' Mr. Veber's brightest comedy in a long while, plays off that nasty joke."

Not rated, the movie's running time is 82 minutes.
