Tree pruning on town roads underway

The town of Jamestown will be pruning the trees on streets within the town right-of-way for vehicular clearance.

This is a routine maintenance procedure done by municipalities all across the United States. The standard height for vehicular clearance is 14 feet above the roadway to allow for the safe passage of vehicles. This height is necessary for the passage of fire trucks, plow and sanding trucks, and commercial vehicles such as UPS and rubbish removal trucks.

These vehicles must be able to pass safely under the limbs. The Department of Public Works is asking residents to extend their cooperation to the work crews. Pruning cuts will be made to the branch collars.

Any questions should be directed to the Office of Public Works, 423-7220
