Marionette theater to perform at library

Yorick's Marionette Theatre will perform "Counting out the Trees," written by Agnes Novak , on Friday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Jamestown Library.

This free 45-minute performance is for youth aged 5 to 14.

In the show, a cast of marionettes created by Dusan Petran, including Pinocchio, Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, and other famous fairy-tale characters, come together to solve the mystery of disappearing trees. The Fairy Queen summons an emergency meeting under the full moon.

After the performance, a puppet workshop will be offered for youth aged 5 to 14. Parents of young children should stay to assist them. All materials will be provided.

Yorick's Marionette Theatre has performed in Europe and the U.S. for the past 25 years. Its hand-carved wooden marionettes will inspire and invite the audience to participate in the dialogue brought about by live theater.

Registration is not required for these free programs. For more information on the program, call 423-7280.
