St. Mark girls' basketball team wraps up season

The St. Mark girls' fifth and sixth grade basketball team faced vigorous competition during their season.
Ten fifth- and sixth-grade Jamestown girls coached by Bill Storey and assisted by Chris Perrotti finished their three-month CYO season this week.

According to Coach Storey, "The competition has been vigorous, but the girls showed huge improvement each week, learning how to play aggressive man-toman defense against more experienced teams, and earning a couple of key victories at the end of the season."

The team was led defensively by Olivia McGowan and Felicia Faria. Katherine Normand and Victoria Rosa were the team's top rebounders. Center Sophie Perrotti and guard Callie Reis received the Most Improved Player awards. Cara Liberati and Julia Thompson were the team's top scorers, while Sydney Pazera and Brooke Reis shared the sportsmanship award for their infectious positive attitudes, discipline, and love of the game.

St. Mark competes in the Diocese of Providence Catholic Athletic League, a very competitive league of parish basketball teams from the East Bay area
