Nonviolence Sunday this week at CBC

This Sunday, March 4, Central Baptist Church will host an informative discussion of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s nonviolence philosophy, led by Laura Clarke. She will give an overview of the program at the University of Rhode Island, as well as the far reaching effects trainers are having in nations around the world.

The one hour presentation is March 4th and will begin at 11 a.m., and is open to the public. Clarke is a Level I Kingian Nonviolence Trainer.

The night before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, he stated to freedom rider and organizer Bernard Lafayette that, in order to be successful, nonviolence needed to be "institutionalized and internationalized." Dr. Lafayette has made it his life's mission to fulfill that goal. The Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies at URI, with Dr. Lafayette in residence, has trained hundreds of people around the world in the principles and steps - "The Will and the Skill" - of Kingian Nonviolence.
