Speeding traffic is the Clinton Ave. problem

I am writing in response to last week's letter titled "Leadership is disappointing."

To clarify some of the writer's points, there is no barrier limiting pedestrian traffic between Howland Avenue and Clinton Avenue. People are still free to walk from one road to the other. No fences or gates are keeping people from using "this once appreciated pedestrian path." When she refers to "large truck volumes through the Narragansett and Clinton Avenue intersection" as a safety issue, she is once again incorrect. The safety issue on lower Clinton Avenue is a speed limit issue. Cars continually approach the intersection at a high rate of speed. Even people who live on the street drive too fast!

For her to assume that all Clinton Avenue residents are unhappy is incorrect. I feel it is time to speak up against the complainers and let them speak for themselves. I am extremely happy to have Jack Brittain as a neighbor.
