Simple assault charged

Patrick Byrne, 19, of 20 Fairview St., was charged April 21 with domestic-simple assault and battery.

Jamestown EMS responded to a call from a woman. When they arrived, they suspected that she might be the victim of domestic violence and called the police, who investigated the case.

Byrne is scheduled to appear April 27 in Newport District Court for a pre-trial hearing, police said.
