Vandalism and malicious injury

Brett A. Cowman, 23, of 177 East Shore Rd., was charged April 26 with vandalism and malicious injury to property, police said. A woman called police claiming that Cowman threw her cell phone at her. Police responded and Cowman attempted to flee on foot. After he was apprehended, he was arraigned at Newport District Court, where he pleaded guilty. The case was filed for one year. Cowan was also ordered to attend supervised anger-management training and pay court costs, police said.

Domestic assault charged

Raymond J. Duclos, 47, of 11 Mast St. was charged April 30 with domestic-simple assault and battery. A woman called and said that he threw an undisclosed object at her, police said. Duclos attempted to flee when police arrived, they said, adding that offi- cers apprehended him on foot and took him to the station where he spent the night. He was taken to Newport District Court the next morning where he was arraigned, police said.
